Betty Plashal started her real estate career with Long and Foster Realtors in the 1970s, shortly after the company was formed. The company was founded by Wes Foster and Henry Long and originally was just a two-man office. Today, under Wes Foster´s ownership, the corporation operates in a number of Mid-Atlantic states and had sales of over $34.5 billion in 2007. It is the largest independently owned real estate company in America. In her first year with the company, Betty was named ”Rookie Agent of the Year.” She has been the company´s Top Producing Agent on a number of occasions, and during her career she has sold or listed nearly 4,000 properties. Betty has received more than one hundred awards and letters of recognition, including being named the ”Salesperson of the Year” for the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors. She has continued her education in real estate over the years and has achieved many designations, including Associate Broker,Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), and is Internet Certified Professional (e-PRO). She consistently ranks as a leader in the Dulles Area Association of Realtors and has served as a director for the association for five years. One of Betty´s proudest achievements was receiving the coveted Herman Methfessel Service award. This award is presented each year to one Long and Foster employee. Herman was the vice president of Long and Foster for many years. The award recognizes Betty for her ”Outstanding Service to Her Clients, Fellow Agents and Community”. Her commitment to the education of new real estate agents has been a priority throughout Betty´s career. A former schoolteacher, she never lost the desire to teach- she has taught new agent courses and has personally mentored new agents over the years. Betty also founded a marketing network group of Realtors, lenders and builders called SHARE. This group formed as a networking group with monthly educational meetings during the late 1980s, a time of recession in real estate. Betty´s real estate practice specializes in both marketing residential homes and representing buyers in the purchase of homes in Northern Virginia. She worked with a real estate partner, Patricia Johnston, for many years.
